Rhodes Farm, a member of the American Berkshire Association (ABA), is located in Saulsbury, TN (50 miles east of Memphis, TN) on 32 acres of farm land. Our stress-free environment allows our pigs, honeybees, rabbits and sheep to roam and forage the way nature intended. Our Angus Cattle, Berkshire Pigs, Russian Honeybees, New Zealand Rabbits, Droper Sheep, Khaki Campbell Ducks and Ameraucanas Chickens are 100% purebred. Because our livestock are stress free they mature faster, taste better and are disease free.
At Rhodes Farm, our sows are bred twice a year, and they farrow in the pasture in enclosed huts that protect the piglets from extreme weather conditions, but still allow freedom of movement. Our pigs are feed non-GMO corn and supplements from local farms and graze freely on pasture grass.
Originated in England, Berkshire Pork, is a heritage breed of pig, discovered over 300 years ago in Berkshire County. The Berkshires were specially bred for the King of England for his personal meat supply because of the excellence of the meat! Berkshire Pork is renowned for its rich texture, marbling, and overall depth of flavor. It is thought by many to be the Kobe Beef of pork. It has a very distinct taste, not generic, bland or mild like regular pork, but prized for its juiciness, tenderness, flavor and pink hue.
This breed has tremendous meat quality, and today’s consumers, both nationally and internationally, are seeking high-quality meat products; which is why we breed and sell Berkshires! Berkshire Pork looks and tastes like no other pork. Unlike commodity pork or “The Other White Meat,” Berkshire Pork is visibly different. It has a darker, richer color with an abundance of intra-muscular marbling with unparalleled juiciness and tenderness for pork.
Berkshire Pork is on the menu of many upscale restaurants, such as California’s Spago’s in Beverly Hills, French Laundry in Napa Valley and local Memphis favorites such as Grove Grill, McEwen’s, Porcellino’s and Strano and Ecco. Today, Berkshire Pork is the most highly sought after pork in the world, and it’s very popular in Japan.
Research proves that Berkshire Pork is the taste winner!
In fact, there have been numerous taste tests, studies, and general research done on Berkshire Pigs. Berkshire Pork is genetically predisposed to produce the finest quality pork due to its shorter muscle fibers and mass marbling which contributes to both the flavor and the tenderness.

Custom Butchered Whole and Half Hog
We sell our 100% Berkshire hogs, whole or by the half, based on hanging weight. Hanging weight is the weight of the carcass after the animal has been eviscerated. Our animals are raised until they are 7-9 months old and weigh 250 – 300 pounds. This will yield a carcass of about 180 - 216 pounds and approximately 144 – 173 pounds of butchered meat in total (this may increase or decrease depending on your butchering choices). Please download attached Hog Carcass Breakdown for additional information.
Rhodes Farm’s customized butchering allows you to make the decisions regarding your purchase – everything from the thickness of chops and type of sausage to packaging. We process USDA fresh meat only, no added nitrates or nitrites. Hogs are processed weekly on Thursday and available locally on Friday or Saturday.
Please download the attached form to place your order. If your order is not accompanied by cutting instructions the butcher will do a standard cut. We are always available for consultation regarding your choices; please contact Rhodes Farm.
We require a $400.00 non-refundable deposit per order which is applied to the total cost of the hog. After processing, a hanging weight will be provided to us by the processor, and you will be invoiced for the remaining balance.
Our current price for custom pork orders is $4.75 - $6.00 a pound from our USDA packaging processor.
When your order is ready we’ll pick up your order from the butcher and schedule delivery with you.
